(mgp-users 00271) Non-working first attempt

  Will one of you more experienced users of mgp please tell me what's wrong
with this test file?

  I call this test.mgp. When I try running it, I get a black screen with
grey/while line toward the top but no text visible

  It must be something simple, but I can't see what it is. Let's see, what
else can I tell you?

  In /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/mgp/default.mgp, I took out the references to vfont
and tfont.

  In /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XF86Config, I have the following font paths:

    FontPath    "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/"
    FontPath    "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/"
    FontPath    "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/atmfonts/"
    FontPath    "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/"
    FontPath    "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/"
    FontPath    "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/"
and these are the contents of the Type1 subdirectory:

  What else do I need to provide to figure out what's wrong?

  Oh, here's the error message I see when I quit running test.mgp:

/home/rshepard/data/slide-presentations/test.mgp:3: no text allowed
in preamble; ignored

  Where is the preamble? And what text (on line 3, I presume) is the
offender?
