I took another (closer) look, and found that defintions like
"Adieresis" (which should be "Ä") are there. But in the file generated
with mgp2sp still this shows up (the word should be "mächtige"):

 -- snip --
23 setcharsize 23 F002 (chtige ) calcy
23 setcharsize 23 F002 (chtige ) 1 copy stringwidth pop 3 2 roll add
23 setcharsize 23 F002 (ä) calcy
23 setcharsize 23 F002 (ä) 1 copy stringwidth pop 3 2 roll add
23 setcharsize 23 F002 (m) calcy
23 setcharsize 23 F002 (m) 1 copy stringwidth pop 3 2 roll add
 -- snip --

I can manually edit the file and change it to look like this (after
which it works):

 -- snip --
23 setcharsize 23 F002 (mächtige ) calcy
23 setcharsize 23 F002 (mächtige ) 1 copy stringwidth pop 3 2 roll add
23 setcharsize 23 F002 () calcy
23 setcharsize 23 F002 () 1 copy stringwidth pop 3 2 roll add
23 setcharsize 23 F002 () calcy
23 setcharsize 23 F002 () 1 copy stringwidth pop 3 2 roll add
 -- snip --

But this is a bit tedious :-/ Any hints?

Karsten
