I think you have the following two possibilities.

1: Configure your window manager not to decorate the windows named "MagicPoint"
   and run mgp with -o.

2: Get the recent mgp code from ftp://sh.wide.ad.jp/WIDE/free-ware/mgp-snap/ 
   or anoncvs (http://www.mew.org/mgp/anoncvs.html) and build it.

   Run mgp with -o and then press "w" key. You will get full screen, but
   mplayer will show up ontop of the mgp.
