configure went fine, but identified cc instead of "gcc" as the
compiler to use, then compilation chocked at some point complaining
about various flags passed to cc (and those flags were almost surely
generated through xmkmf).
It could have been because of a peculiar installation, i am not sure
because the machine is not mine but i am using a guest account.
