Usualy I use 1.09a, but 1.10a seems to have the same problem.

Nothing changed. After I switch my 20 slides back and forth two times,
mgp uses 116 MB. Next I guess the images caused the problem. But
removing all newimage-directives change nothing.
Your sample.mgp has the same problem, but not so unabvious. Perhaps
the area-directive is the wrongdoer? I use it many times.
